“Baltic 2030: Bumps on the Road- How the Baltic Sea States are performing on the SDGs ”

Are you interested in knowing how the CBSS Member States Countries are performing in matter of UN Sustainable Development Goals?
The Council of the Baltic Sea States and the Nordic Council of Ministers recently issued the report: “Baltic 2030: Bumps on the Road” that sheds light on the performance of 11 Countries in the Baltic Sea Region on 5 of the most critical Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
With the Agenda 2030, UN’s member states agreed on 17 Sustainable Development Goals to boost sustainable development by 2030, whose progress is tracked by a series of targets and indicators. In 2017 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the CBSS approved an Action Plan for the Baltic Sea Region to achieve the UN objectives through transnational cooperation and macro-regional coordination.
The report gives a strategic direction to the actions of CBSS and of all the actors engaged in macroregional collaboration to better foster cooperation and knowledge transfer. The report focuses on SDG 8- Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDG 11- Sustainable Cities & Communities; SDG 12- Responsible Consumption & Production; SDG 13- Climate Action; SDG 15- Life on Land, because of their challenging nature and the performance discrepancies detected among the countries. The report closes the analysis with some “Avenue for Action” that underline the importance of developing a common understanding in matter of sustainable development to better work together, learn from the best practices, better use joint data for more effective and targeted solutions.
The report was launched at the 8th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea region during the seminar “EUSBSR post 2020: Defining joint challenges as drivers for change”.
