Maritime Education Programme summer cruise begins

On 23rd July 2016 the winners of the Maritime Education Programme contest “How do we see the Baltics Sea” began their summer cruise around the Baltic Sea.

Supervised by Captain Andrzej Kopytko will get a taste of real maritime sailing while visiting ports around the Baltic. Sea. The crew was selected among students of primary and secondary schools from Poland and other Baltic countries based on the result of a special contest to prepare infographics showing the youth perspective on the Baltic Sea Region.

The competition was held under the honorary patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of Baltic Sea States, Pomorskie Marshal’s Office and the Global Compact in Poland – a Polish representation of the worldwide initiative of the UN Secretary General promoting the development of corporate social responsibility. Last year, the Global Compact in Poland initiated the Baltic Sea Program 2015-2020, which aims to develop activities aimed at sustainable development of the Baltic Sea Region. The annual competition Program for Maritime Education in Gdansk is organized with the involvement of sponsors – Ferrero Poland, under the Kinder + Sport and Grupa LOTOS.

The plan is to visit Polish and foreign ports including Karlskrona and Gotland and familiarise the young crew members with the sailing conditions on the sea.
