Swedish regions of Blekinge, Kalmar, Skåne and Southern Småland in favour of a joint region

The regional authorities of the Swedish regions of Blekinge, Kalmar, Skåne and Southern Småland have established a non-profit organisation tasked with preparing a common ground for the creation of a joint region of Southern Sweden.

The Sydsvensk regionbildning association will comprise representatives of counties, regional councils, as well as main political parties to ensure broadest possible political support for this initiative. The new region could be formed by January 2019.

The first official meeting of the Board of Sydsvensk regionbildnining is to be held in Växjö on 14th March 2013.
