2nd Annual Forum on the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region

The 2nd Annual Forum on the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) was held in Gdańsk between 24-26th October 2011. The event, held together with the 13th Baltic Development Forum Summit, was coorganised by the European Commission, Baltic Development Forum, Pomorskie Region, Polish EU Presidency and the City of Gdańsk.

Gathering more than 700 representatives of EU institutions, national and regional governments, as wells as business sector, academia and non-governmental organisations, this year's Forum was held under the theme – New Ambitions for the Baltic Sea Region. In the course of debates and workshops, participants of the Forum tried to identify main issues that could be discussed and tackled during the EUSBSR revision process which currently being coordinated by the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. Other important topics included competitiveness, regional development, researach and innovation as well as cooperation with non-EU countries within the Baltic Sea Region.
