Regional pathways

Water recycling and climate-resilient water management do not follow a one-size-fits-all path. Because geographies, climates, and institutional contexts differ, each region must define its own tailored strategy – one that reflects local needs, opportunities, resources, and preparedness. A key success factor is having a local driver willing to make the change happen.

From November 2025, you can click the map to explore how different regions around the Baltic Sea have shaped their own strategies for water recycling within the WaterMan project. These examples show what is possible in practice. They were led by different types of institutions (including municipalities, regions, water companies, and research institutes) and offer a wide range of inspiration that you can combine to tailor an approach for your own region.

And you will be able to access from here our library of tools and guidelines, designed to help you define your own pathway in practice, from basic groundwork to advanced planning.
